As hard as it is to resist writing yet another Apple Computer friendly article for the June Issue, I cannot help myself. Apple and its fairly new MacBook have topped the computer industry again! This is a sleek 13 inch laptop that has style and plenty of power under the trunk. If you need RAM, it is loaded with it and you can upgrade the memory before you check out.

But the best part of the new member of the Macintosh family is that plenty of used and refurbished Apple computers will hit the market and they should be bargain. Old Powerbooks and iBooks will be priced nice and low. Grab them while you can, Apple won't be making any more :-(

Ok, it's no longer much of a surprise, Apple has done it, they have created the dual-boot Macintosh! What does this mean for Windows and Apple OS users alike? Well, not really sure that it has any immediate impact yet as the computer has to completely re-boot for a user to take advantage of the other operating system. However, if you are keen on little laptops and sleek style, the Macintosh Powerbook, now called the MacBook Pro, may be just the thing you are looking for to get rid of your old IBM Thinkpad. The other advantage it has to Apple Computer is that Dell and Hewitt Packard still cannot run the Macintosh OS on their machines, which are windows desktops and laptops. Apple computers, at the moment, offer a couple of highly potential benefits to the average computer users and someone looking to get the best deal for their money.

It’s an age old question, is it not? That with the new year one should get a new computer? I firmly believe so, or atleast every 3 or 4 years anyway.

I just upgraded machines, actually haven’t completed the leap but purchased a new box. I have finally taken a step away from my (knock on wood) trusy dual 800 Mhz. G4 tower, and purchased a dual 2.7 Ghz G5 PowerMac with a sweet arsonel of features:

- 512MB DDR400 SDRAM — hmmm, which will need to be upgraded
- 250GB Serial ATA — might need a new back up drive for this baby!
- 16x SuperDrive (double-layer) — now, that’s fast
- Three PCI Slots — ok, room to expand
- ATI Radeon 9650 — yes, it’ll power a 30″ Apple Display when I have a couple grand to drop down, but it won’t handle my already owned 22″ Apple Display with an ADC jack
